The goal of this program is to prepare students for an entry-level position in a variety of fields including banking, retail, personnel and sales. The courses will also help prepare students who are interested in starting their own business. The curriculum is a combination of microcomputer skills and accounting, giving students a solid base in interpersonal and managerial skills. Not only will students learn leadership and teamwork skills, they’ll also learn how to motivate and communicate with people effectively. Upon completion of this program, graduates will earn an associate of applied science degree.
Once out in the workforce, graduates might find themselves performing duties such as training, recruiting and supervising staff; maintaining employee records in compliance with state and federal laws; maintaining a safe and productive work environment for everyone and scheduling work assignments.
Once they have successfully completed this program, students will be able to apply basic financial and accounting data to the control of business activities as well as define core marketing principles.
Students will discuss the impact of state and federal laws and regulations on business and apply managerial functions to operational tasks and responsibilities. They will also examine human resource concepts and activities in the context of a business strategy.
