Knowledge of HTML is a must to make it in the competitive computer technology industry. This course introduces students to the language of HTML and teaches them what it is and how to plan and write HTML documents.

There are several steps involved in planning a web page. First, one must sketch the page they are visualizing in their head, and then they must enter the tags necessary for an HTML document. Students will become familiar with what an HTML source page looks like, learn to create a simple page and save it, view the page and learn how the browser displays the code that they have written.

Students will also learn how to preview, edit and print a web page and how to create links to other web pages. By the end of this course, students will have the tools to be able to create a basic HTML document.

There are two kinds of links that may appear on a web page -- an absolute link and a relative link. An absolute link contains the full URL for a website, which provides the exact location of the site. A relative link provides a filename and a sub-folder path, but doesn’t provide complete location information.

Students will learn how to use application software. Course subjects include an introduction to Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint, in addition to the Windows operating system. Students also learn how to apply the use of software applications within a profession. By the end of this course, students will be able to create web pages using HTML and use basic formatting techniques. They will also be able to create effective and meaningful links to other web pages and documents as well as a form for retrieving information from the user.
